Since they were a child, everyone has had that one job they have always dreamed about. And while every little boy and girl does not grow up to be the next president, that doesn't stop anyone from having a dream job. When I was younger, I really wanted to be a doctor. I even had a little tool kit that I used to run around with and bandage all of my stuffed animals. However, upon entering college and realizing that I have more of a passion in the sciences, rather than the medical field, I changed my mind.

As I child I also really wanted to be an author. I used to partake in writing competitions all the time, and I would write short stories for fun. My grandpa, who is a published author, would even edit my stories and give me tips about how to better them. I even remember having tons of journals and trying to fill them up as my own written book. However, as school became more intense and I got older, my writing hobby was pushed to the side.

Now, my dream job is to work in the science field, preferably as a food developer. While I'm still planning my life, and have yet to graduate college, this is currently the most intriguing career option to me.

The food industry keeps growing, people not only love to eat, but they need to eat. One growing section within the food industry is genetically modified organisms, otherwise known as GMO's. While there are still debates about whether or not GMOs are helpful or even healthy, they definitely produce larger produce objects in greater quantities. Some even argue that GMOs taste better. However, GMOs also include newly created food products. Some examples are cara cara oranges or (my favorite) honeycrisp apples. These fruits are created by mixing together two different types of fruits or two different aspects of fruits within the same family.

Another aspect in the food industry that really interests me is flavor development. For example, that delicious raspberry smirnoff you're enjoying was created by flavor development. Creating flavors and new types of products is really interesting to me, and I really would like to apply my science skills and backgrounds to products that the general public will be able to use. While others argue that I can use my science skills to help do research or further the medical field, I want to see my product available on shelves in stores, where the average family would be able to use them. Some companies that really beckon to me are Kraft Foods and General Mills.

So hopefully all my schooling and previous job experiences doing lab work and teaching others will help me. I'm still young, but school is ending for me soon and I need to start thinking of my future.

What is your dream job? Do you know what you want to do?

So I know I've been slacking lately on the blog -- these past few weeks in Prague have been kinda crazy! But I know that isn't an excuse for failing to update my blog regularly. In about an hour I will be heading to the airport to continue the second leg of my study abroad journey.

I promise from here on out that I will post at least once a week about my journey abroad!
I will also get back to writing about my time in Prague and all the other adventures I had in my first month abroad!

I have a lot of different bags: everyday purse, everyday backpack, festival bag, gym bag, etc! So, I decided that this post will be about my everyday purse, which is what I take around with me on a day to day basis when I don't have school.

My everyday purse is a simple Betseyville Johnson black crossbody bag, which was a birthday gift from one of my friends (similar here). I'm not a fan of large purses, but this bag perfectly fits the bare minimum of what I need and what I like to carry around with me. This purse has been with me for 2 years now and it sill looks the same inside and out!

Here are the things that I carry inside my bag:

Wallet I obviously need something to carry around all my cash, cards, etc. So I have a nice leather Juicy Couture wallet (also a gift- similar here) that has lasted me almost 4 years now. Theres two cash pockets and 8 slots for different cards. There's also a back pocket on the wallet - so you can keep things ready.

Sunglasses Walking around a lot at school or driving around at home, I need something to shade my eyes from all the sun. I've always been a fan of the Ray Ban style, and I received a pair of the Clubmaster's for Christmas this year. And I love them! (here)

Card Case I don't always carry this around - but whenever I go shopping I take it with me. It's a small pouch that I got on a trip to NYC, and it holds all my rewards cards, gift cards, or point cards from stores. (similar here)

Lipstick For some reason I have two lipsticks in my purse today, though I normally carry one lipstick and lip balm. But the two lipsticks I have today are my two favorite: Mac's Dark Side and NYX's Chic Red.

iPod I always have either my iPod or my phone. I use it for the obvious communication, but I also use this to play music when I'm walking around or I plug it into my car when I drive.

Keys Obviously, when I leave the house I need to get back. So, I've got my Hello Kitty lanyard that holds my car keys, school ID, and my house keys. Also, for my own protection, my parents insist that I carry a whistle for emergencies.

101 things

Today is my 21st Birthday!

And with that information, I have decided that I want to do something with my life! I know I'm not old or anything, but there are so many things that I want to do!

I love the idea of creating a bucket list, and I love the idea of finishing one even more. I found Mackenzie Horan's beautiful blog Design Darlings and found her 101 things in 1001 days page. The idea is to complete 101 things throughout 1001 days, or about 2.75 years. Mackenzie has since completed her first list, but she has started another list here. I was very inspired by her lists from the moment I read them, and I have decided that I would like to do the same. I have always said I'm going to do things - but having and sharing this list will really motivate me to complete not only fun objectives, but also personal goals that will bring improvement upon my life.

1001 days seems so far away! But I'm really excited to start this journey, and I hope to learn more about myself as I go. I'm curious to see what I can complete and I hope to make progress on most, if not all of these things! So here goes nothing!

My favorite quote is something I have followed since I was a child. I am not sure if the quote is famous or from any notable movie or book, but I came across the quote in a catalog when I was young. I cut that quote out and taped it by mirror, where I could see it every day.

"Everyone's choice begins with a dream, because with dreams
everything is possible"

I love this quote because not only is it inspirational, but it also has a sense of wonder to it. I know part of it is cheesy and is motivational, convincing people not to give up on what they want. And I really like the idea of it, this quote got me through some rough times not only with school but with personal issues too. I also like how the quote allows people to dream, and that having your head in the clouds is not always a bad thing.

Like I said, I really live by this quote. This small piece of paper has lasted for many years, but one day I hope to have it tattooed on my body as a reminder every day.

What's your favorite quotes? Any good inspirational words to live by?

I love the idea of being able to imagine winning the lottery. Playing the what if...? game with friends and family is always a great fascination. Being the college student that I am, I definitely have had the thought "... if I won the lottery than I could...".

I think I would like to be able to say I would do something really noble like donate it all to charity or help change somebody's life for the better. But I think the first step in my lottery spree would be to pay off all my student loans and other things affiliated with large college fees. I would also save enough money to finish paying for my college.

I think next I would buy my dad a new phone. Because really, my dad is still toting around a flip phone. I mean in the age of technology, most of us have smart phones.. but my dad is old fashioned. I think he just needs a good nudge.

Afterwards, I would start ticking things off of my wanderlust list. I really love traveling, and I think there's a lot of places to head. My first destination would be London.

Trying not to sound like a snob... but the last time I visited London I was a young child. Needless to say I don't remember much of it. The strongest memory I have of that trip is that my cousins and I found a snail in their drive way. So.... it would be nice to see London again and make new memories.

Next, I would start going across Europe. Maybe a break in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Denmark, and Ireland. Hopefully, if there was still enough money left (and it was safe to go) I would like to visit Egypt afterwards.

My parents visited Egypt before I was born, and so I grew up with their interesting stories from their trip. Around our house is memorabilia from their trip too. I also had a strong fascination with the Ancient Egyptian culture, and I would like to see where it all originated from.

Maybe maybe afterwards I would have to just come home and visit all the famous restaurants and such around the city. Treat myself, friends, and family to some good food. Like maybe some good dessert?

What would you do if you won the lottery?
