With Halloween tomorrow, a couple things immediately cross my mind.
Costumes.
Scary stories.
Candy.
And yes, it did occur in that moment. I am a huge fan of Halloween, and so I have so much fun around this time of year. I'm 21 and I still dress up and try my luck at trick or treating with friends every year. (Last year we had a good animal theme going!) However, one of my favorite things about Halloween is hearing all the new and old scary stories. I love horror movies, and I am a huge fan of creepy pasta.

So this week, I wanted to share 5 of my favorite creepy or scary stories that I've come across this year.

{one}
Bloody Mary

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, everyone has heard of or either attempted to play the game Bloody Mary. While the story varies from place to place, the general idea is you look into a mirror and say the name Bloody Mary, and she will appear to you. There are tons of stories online about peoples' accounts with the game. Recently, YouTube recommended this video to me, and I must say it gave me some good chills initially.

{two}
Thought Catalog's Creepy Ghost Photos

I'm an avid photography fan, but sometimes things that show up in photos are down right terrifying. Ghost photography is something that is creepy and amazing all at the same time. While these photos may or may not convince you of what is out there, they still give you a good jump and raise your curiosity. See some for yourself here.

{three}
American Horror Story and Stories that Inspired the Series

American Horror Story is a tele series that has recently started its 5th season. While each season varies a bit, they're all equally addicting! The show is a mix of mystery, suspense, thrill, and of course horror. At times the show is very stressful, but I enjoy watching every bit of it! You can catch AHS on Fox, Wednesdays at 10pm.

If AHS is too much for you, or if you want more... many different things have been written about the show. One video I recently came across was by the YouTube channel Top 5s. This video relates some of the creepier plot lines in AHS to real life people. It was an educational and creepy moment to realize that some of the stories aren't just fictional after all.

{four}
reddit.com/r/nosleep

Reddit is everything to the Internet, it's quite an addicting site and has something for everybody. This means that you can look up cute pictures of animals, or you can read tons of horror stories. I love visiting the subreddit nosleep. This is where people post lots of horror stories that can be true or fictional. New stories get posted every day, so you will never run out of things to read.

Here are two of my favorite stories I read from the past year:
Air Traffic Controller

Hacking Baby Moniters

{five}
Black Eyed People

Whether or not these are true, these stories are quite creepy and I never want to encounter one myself. Black Eyed People are told to be people with pitch black eyes, who will appear at your house. With their encounters an alarmingly heavy feeling of dread will overcome you. All over the internet you can find many different stories about them, but just to help you with an introduction check out the Creepy Pasta- Black Eyed People article.

There are so many creepy things to share and talk about! It was so hard to pick just five, but I did my best! Do you guys have any other creepy things you want to share? I love reading about them, leave them down in the comments below!

This one came at kinda a wonderful time - and more coincidently was unplanned for this week! My favorite time of year happens to be right now. I love fall time and the very early days of winter chill! Some of my favorite things to do are in the fall. Fall means the start of colorful leaves, warm sweaters, and everything apple!

Fall to me is perfect! It's the end of scorching hot summer days, but not quite the beginning of winter chills. There are lots of fun activities like apple picking, reading outside, or taking a run (sweating only from your activity - not heat)!

What time of year is your favorite? Let me know down below, and if it's fall let's compare fun stories!

Week 23: 5 Favorite Movies

There are two things in life that I love - writing and photography. These two hobbies not only help me destress and give me a break from life every once in awhile, but they also help me document my life. I have filled countless journals with writings, drawing, pictures, polaroids, and countless slips of papers and such.

While I'm not quite ready to share with you the pages of my personal journal, I do want to share fun events and other exciting things that are happening in my life. So with that, I bring you Photo Diaries!

Running is somewhat of a new thing for me. I've been trying for awhile to make it a consist thing. Our school recently had Parent's Week, which is always accompanied by the annual 5K. However, with construction blocking part of our school's sidewalks, the run was shortened and our school held it's first ever 4K. I am proud to say that I ran the entire thing in 26 minutes.

Fall break is a much needed and welcomed time at my school. It's a nice 4 day weekend allowing all of us students (and professors) time to relax and catch up on work or life. I spent my first day of break vegging and relaxing. I took the time to finish all the little things I needed to do that had built up during the first half of the semester. Oh! And I also treated myself to a little sweet treat from Cocoa & Fig

With the weather getting gloomier, it's harder to find things to do outside for the whole day. But with break, I wanted a chance to explore the city. My friend and I decided to brave the rain and head downtown to visit a new place, the Mill City Museum. I recommend this museum if you have the chance. I did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised learning all the facts and history about the Twin Cities' mill industry. An additional plus, is the beautiful view from the top of the building.

A huge and popular fall activity is apple picking! I love apples and so naturally I wanted to go apple picking this break! My friends and I made a nice day journey to Afton Apple Orchard to do all things fall; apple picking, feeding animals, corn mazes, pumpkin patching. It was a slightly blustery day, but it made that final apple cider and apple donut more delicious at the end of our day.

So as you guys may or may not know, I studied abroad this summer! My first destination was Prague, Czech Republic. So I packed my bags and headed around the globe and landed, jet lagged Vaclav Havel ready to start my journey!

I moved in to Slezska 61 with two other girls, my new roommates Malerie and Katie. Our apartment was a cute and clean 2 bedroom apartment just for us! I opted to live with a roommate, so I had the pleasure of living with Malerie for the next month. Our apartment was located in Praha 3, one of the ten districts of Prague.

My Roommates and I

The first day was kind of rough. Jet lagged, we were driven from the airport to our apartments and told to try and stay awake for as long as possible. Which is hard, considering most of us had been traveling for at least two days. I was the first to arrive in the apartment, so I waited for my new roommates and spent time unpacking and claiming my bed. I guess that's the best part of being first, you get dibs on the best bed!

View from Apt 6. Slezska 61

When my roommates finally arrived we spent lots of time just talking and getting to know each other. Eventually we realized we had to start getting moved in, so while Malerie moved in Katie and I ran downtown so she could exchange her money for Koruna. Hard thing was, we spent a little too much time downtown and missed our first dinner with our flat buddy, Jakub. Flat buddies are similar to RA's,  except they are students attending our host university, so they more of help us understand and experience the Czech culture.

So seeing that Katie and I missed our group dinner, we spent the first night wandering around our district by ourselves. We found ourselves a nice little hidden restaurant, Sudicka, which ended up becoming our favorite restaurant in all of Prague.

At the end of this week is a wonderful and fun holiday, Halloween. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and I'm ready and excited for this year! Besides all the sugary sweets you can get from trick or treating, baking, or horror movie night with friends, you need some sweet music too. While I am a fan of all the traditional music you hear around Halloween, like Thriller, I think there are some other songs that can be used for Halloween for their holiday themed, scary, or creepy lyrics and sounds to accompany whatever goes bump in the night!

1. This is Halloween - Panic! At the Disco

2. You're So Creepy- Ghost Town

3. Monsters - Matchbox Romance

4. Outnumbered- The Devil Wears Prada

5. Don't Fear the Reaper (Cover) - Pierce the Veil

6. Forever Halloween- The Maine

7. Miss Murder - A.F.I.

8. Kill Everybody- Skrillex
Earlier this month, I shared my October Goals and decided that I wanted to try and start a new blog post series. So after much debate searching the web a bit, I decided to start....

5 on Friday

* * *

Basically everyone uses their computer daily, and I am no exception to that idea. As a student, I use my laptop to check emails, take notes, and do homework. But I also listen to music, browse the internet, procrastinate, and kill time online. I admit.. I'm not the perfect student, I do need a break from work every now and then.

So without further adieu, here is five sites that I use when I procrastinate.

{one}

Buzzfeed is wonderful! Yes it is a lot of click bait and they do find some of their content from other sites, who posted it first, but it is a great time waster. They have everything from videos, to DIYs, and quizzes. I'm a big fan of quizzes and support anything Friends related.

{two}

Who doesn't love Netflix? Or more of.. who doesn't have their account... or has "borrowed" one from their friend's brother's girlfriend's cousin's dad? I feel like everyone has a Netflix account, or access to one. And tele is just a wonderful way to kill time and relax.

Try this for starters: Criminal Minds

{three}

While Netflix is all about tele and movies, YouTube is a little simpler... it offers anything! You can find music videos, old movies, small clips, random talk shows, etc. I am an avid YouTuber! I start my day getting ready to my newest subscription videos on YouTube. It's a way to wake myself up without dealing with people yet. Coffee and some old Ellen episodes.

Try this for starters: Mental Floss

{four}

I was not a pinterest person before college at all. To be honest, I was a tumblr addict (still am) and I thought that pinterest was a rip- off stupid idea. I have since changed my mind entirely. I love pinterest so much, it's a great way to compile and keep lots of ideas and internet links in one place. I have stored all my recipes and baking treats on it.

Try this for starters: Mee132

{five}

This one is probably a bit out of the norm. I love Urban Outfitter's clothes, so whenever I need a small burst of energy, I enjoy window shopping on their website. I'm a fan of their designs, just not of their prices. Which means I can spend hours and hours scrolling through their blog and their sale pages.

What are your favorite online sites? Let me know below if there are any site I'm missing out on! I'm always looking for new sites to check out when I need a break!
I know I've hinted at this multiple times, but I spent my summer this past year studying abroad. After not getting accepted into any research labs, I decided that instead of getting an hourly summer job, I was going to use my summer to explore more. So I hurriedly applied to a few summer study abroad programs.

I am a chemistry major, so the my tough schedule doesn't allow me to have easy access to study abroad options during the school year. With that being said, if I was going to study abroad it would have to be during the summer. The program that accepted me was CIEE's summer program, Psychoanalysis and Art.

So this summer I packed my bags and headed off to Prague and Paris!

So my surprise gift to you! These next weeks I'll start a new mini- series of blog posts about my experience abroad! I hope you enjoy reading them, and I hope you'll tell me about any of your travel experiences too!

Fall is here, and with the new season many new songs have been appearing on the radio. While my musical tastes range a good variety of genres, I do have a few Top 40 songs I enjoy listening to.

Here are some of my favorite songs on the radio right now!

1.  New Americana - Halsey

2. Ex's and Oh's - Elle King

3. Hold Back the River - James Bay

4. Stiches - Shawn Mendes

5. Stand by You - Rachel Platten

6. Beautiful Now (feat. Jon Bellion) - Zedd

7. Renegades - X Ambassadors

8. Cecilia and the Satellite - Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

Wow, I'm so glad that it's finally Friday! I hope you guys have had a nicer week than I did! Anyways I apologize for how poorly prepared this post is. I didn't have time to really plan and write out my post before hand. It was quite a rough week.

* * *

As a child I always collected things, toys, beanie babies, and little knick knacks. I think at one time I even saved every single Happy Meal toy I ever received, which was surprisingly a lot since my neighbor owned the nearby McDonald's.  But now as I've grown up, I try not to hold onto as many things that I don't need. Easier said than done right?

One thing that I've collected through my entire life are pins. I apologize now, I don't have any pictures since my whole collection is at home, and I'm currently up at school right now. If I get around to editing this post later, I will add pictures!

Anyways, pins sound like a really simple thing to collect, and I agree it is. I have tons of pins from all over the world! Pins from different states, museums, bands, etc. Anytime I go somewhere new and memorable, I try to find and buy a pin for my collection. Currently all my pins are on a humongous T-shirt that's hanging on my wall for display.

I've been collecting pins since I was a child. Some of the first pins I can remember getting are from my trip at Disney World. I was so excited because even workers will trade pins with you! I spent the greater part of my vacation looking for the best pins to take home. More recently, I have added pins from my study abroad journey, which you can read about here

What do you collect? Do you collect pins too?? (Because that would be so cool!) Leave me a comment below about your collection!

Week 23: 5 Favorite Movies

Happy Thursday everyone!

Here's a quick throwback to an old fashion post from one of my failed past blogs!

* * *

With Chicago going through its "summer polar vortex," today felt like the perfect day to dig up one of my favorite typography tees. I made myself even more comfortable, pairing it with my favorite flannel and black skinnies. This seemed like the perfect outfit to wear lazily around the house or out with friends.

And I did both. I wore this 90's inspired grunge look out to sushi with friends, and then we all lounged around and caught up at home. Despite the stressful morning due to work, the colder weather didn't ruin my day.

Thanks for reading my blog today!
Hope you have sunnier weather!

Recently, I finished my face powder and was not quite pleased with it. So I decided to go back to the tried and trusted and returned to an old favorite! Enter Too Faced's Primed and Poreless Pressed Powder Compact.

This compact has been my favorite powder, since I began extensively wearing makeup. I know it's  more expensive than generic brands, but I think Too Faced is worth the price! The powder is nice and lightweight, and I never feel that it is caked on my face. But at the same time, the coverage is build-able, so if there's a day I feel more powder is needed, it's quite easy to achieve that look too.

Also, unlike my last powder this one tends to hold back the shine at bay better. I can usually go the whole school day without having any problems, or feel the need to reach towards any blotting papers. The powder really controls shine well and lasts a long time. The only time I feel the need to reapply powder is if I'm going out for the night and need to touch up my makeup.

I usually apply my powder after my foundation, but before the rest of my makeup. I think that this powder could work well either way. It has nice coverage, but as I said before it's still lightweight enough that even bronzer, highlighter, and blush would still be seen through if you powdered your face after all of your makeup application.

TLDR
Would I buy this again? / Recommend to a friend? Yes, I really like this powder! I think it has the nicest finish and it keeps my face shine free all day without feeling too heavy or caked.

This weekend, I ran a 5K with some friends for our schools annual Family Week 5K fun and run. Because I determined to increase my running ability, and also since I signed up for a 8K this November, I thought this 5K would be good practice. So with that comes a lot of practice and training. I'm not your normal avid runner, it does take a little bit to coax me outside. But I've put together a playlist of songs I really enjoy running to because of either their upbeat tempo, the good steady bass, or the motivational lyrics!

Enjoy! And good luck with your running endeavors too!

1. Work B**ch - Britney Spears

2. Dare You (feat. Matthew Koma) - Hardwell

3. Bad Girls - M.I.A.

4. We Run the Night (feat. Havana Brown) - Pitbull

5. Run this Town - Lucy Hale

6. Fight Song - Rachel Platten

7. Hit and Run - Breathe Carolina

8. Could Have Been Me - The Struts

This week's post seems pretty straight forward.. maybe you'll find your next Netflix pick on this post!

1. Alice in Wonderland

Either Disney film - animated or not- is wonderful to me! This was one of my favorite childhood books, so seeing it in film really projects your imagination onto the big screen.

2. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

As you guys probably know, I really like Ben Barnes. This movie is his first major film that crossed the European - American lines. The Narnia series is a great childhood book series, and while the major change in the book -aging Prince Caspian by about 10 years- is a great change! I don't mind seeing an older Caspian, and the movie also includes other great actors like Peter Dinklage too!

3. Inception

This movie is great! There's a lot to this movie, you can watch it to enjoy it or you can watch it to figure it out. I love how simplistic or though provoking this film is!

4. Batman: The Dark Knight

Just like Inception, this movie is simplistic or thought provoking. Also like Inception, Christopher Nolan is the director - and he is one of my favorite directors! He makes such great movies that really manage to entice you! Any film in the Batman series is great, but I really love the Dark Knight! Plus it was shot in my home city - so I had fun watching some Gotham trucks drive around that summer.

5. 21 and Over

This movie is not quite like the others, it more comedic and light hearted. Oh and it's also a little more college related - beware it is R rated. I wasn't a fan of The Hangover, but this is kinda like a college version of that movie. Let alone I love how this movie builds up, uses, and tears apart every racial stereotype for Asians and Jews. Funny, yet not offensive.

These movies are great! Any time I'm stumped for a movie to watch, I'll pick one of these! I could watch these over and over without getting tired of them. I've got lots of them memorized so far! Do you guys have any favorite movies? Let me know which ones - I'd love to add some new ones to my favorites list!
